Is there much diffirence in power between the 2.5 and 300TDi

Who said td5's won't run veg oil?? There most suitable out of all of them, due to the internal fuel galleries it heats the fuel and that returns back to the tank, have you ever felt a fuel filter on a td5 when its running? It gets very warm. I have run previous td5's on veg oil nearly svo in summer months
 
Discovery Series II are the most refined vehicle out of the first three incarnations. However, with experience, I found the D2 to be a lot more cramped in the cabin than its earlier stable mates and then of course you have all the electronic crap that is thrown in under the disguise of 'improvement'.

D2 TD5's have a very good smooth engine but dual mass flywheels are expensive and need replacing when the clutch is shagged. Then of course the air suspension is bollocks when it goes wrong. One day it's fine and the next morning it looks like a dog ****ting on your drive with its arse being held up by the tow bar lol.

300 are a good inbetweener sitting nicely between TD5 and the 200. Yes it has a better cabin and more electric gizmos to help the journey go along nicely. Rubber couplings on the propshafts are supposed to make the running gear smoother but they just wear out and get ripped apart if you lift the vehicle.

200 are the simplest beast. The engine has no electronics. It runs on anything that remotely resembles diesel and the running gear whilst agricultural will not necessarily let you down. I am of course biased as I have a 3 door 93 vintage model.

At the end of the day any owner will like his or her car series better than the one they don't generally own otherwise why would they have brought it. Tbh I would still prefer my 200 over any newer one as the running costs are considerably less and I can service it myself.
 
I've just baught a 02 plate td5 serengeti. No sun roofs to leak, no air suspension, no ace. Has got hill decent but will never use it. Nice standard 18 inch wheels. No gizmos etc. Over the moon with it. To be honest I've had more electrical problems with 300 tdi's. My mate has got 1 and the wiring and electrics are absolutley ****ed. Put side light on radio and back windows come down. Won't start unless side lights are on. It is absolutley ****ed. Its constantly on my ramp being fixed and its always electrics. I've had 3 td5's now and I've never once had to take it a dealer to be fixed. Always done it my self, there not that complicated. Anyway going a bit off subject now lol. Course every1 is gunna stick by the series they own

yeah that sounds more like some ****wits played with the wires rather than a manufacturing problem

Yep i'm sure it was our boys that had boots that came apart in the heat of the desert when they were in Iraq. Kit tested to distruction (Yes) Tested in the field while at war! :mad: Engines may be different though. :confused:
