They stop as well as anything on a slippery surface, if its real hard ice only studds or chains grip well. In snow big MTs seem to work Ok for me . There is a bit of banter re engines with landies as well mostly between V8's and "dismals" :p

i only bought my landy in march so aint snowed yet, on the other hand i have hurd the dont stop to well.

as for the above comment miss inturpreted what was said and went off topic,

all the cars i have owned there is always banta about engines

i think it all boiles down to who has the biggest buget to who has the fastest.

They stop fine, but you need to look at it with a little common sense. If you are going to quick and lock the wheels up, then it's just a big heavy sledge, no worse than most modern saloon cars which weigh similar mind, but no better either.

However, use a bit of common sense, don't go so fast and use engine braking, especially combined with diff lock and maybe even low range and you can have far more control in reducing speed and changing direction than a normal 2wd car does. :)

Stick a V8 in what you've got if your not using it everyday and want to p&p with extra grunt.
