is it worth buying a nano com?

It sure is, following on form your earlier thread, you can see the readings from the sensors.
If you decide to work on the system, remember to disconnect the battery first.

Fanatic... I'm fairly committed, but in truth don't have much car repair experience. I figure that considering a dealer visit is pricey, I may as well.

Biggeeee.... do you mean to disconnect battery when working on suspension? Or do you mean when working with nano com?

Seems a tool to buy then

If you have one, you can (often) avoid the common mistake of changing multiple components in a process of elimination to find faults. And regular use of the logging facility helps you keep an eye on things before they go wrong.

We have three Landies in the family, two D2's and a 110 CSW.

We looked at Nanocom and Hawkeye, bought Hawkeye and has saved its cost a few times over in a year.

I also plan to buy something to be able to perform some basic checks by myself. Which is more recommended for a 2002 D2 td5, a Nanocom or a Hawkeye (or maybe a simple OBD reader)?
Thanks

I recently got a nanocom for my 2000 td5 disco, its saved me alot of time and money already as was able 2 diagnose faults without replacing parts I didnt need 2. The best thing with nanocom is u can record live data on a sd card and transfer 2 laptop.

D2 is not OBDII compliant, so go for nanocom or hawkeye, your choice...nanocom can do some more things and record data but might have small "glitches" wityh BCU or SLABS, not 100% reliable(i'd say 90%), hawkeye is on testbook T4 protocol, 100% reliable and imo easyer to use but can't record data...i have them both and use hawkeye for diagnostic and nanocom for live data or key programming if needed.
