Is it possible to change alarm ECU? D1 or do you have spare fobs??

Hi guys,
i recently purchased a 1994 (300) D1 and so far so good. but for the last 2 months i have been going insane trying to find any alarm fobs. (i have the 433mhz single button ecu version).

I need two fobs, one for me and one for the missus, but the only ones i can find are £50+ Each. and theyre not original either so dunno about reliability.

What i wanted to know was if it was possible to get an alarm ecu from a later model (the two button fob) and replace that with mine so that in the future if i loose any fobs i dont have to go crazy for them.

There are a few on Ebay so getting hold of one wont be a problem.

Or does anyone have any spare remote fobs lying around that they want to sell??

The 2 button fob is a completely different system - not an easy job.The single button fobs were also in 418mhz aswell,one of the frequency fobs is still available from LR.This is a straight swop.

so i can swap the ecu from the 418mhz, will i loose any functionality or is it purely a case of frequency?
