Hi all, can't see any trace off anti freeze in my 96 p38 4.6. I am going to drain and fill it again just wondering if comma coldmaster is suitable. It is ethylene glycol based, this should be ok shouldn't it.

Cheers in advance.

any is better than none, best to use oat (organic acid tec)orange stuff but blue will do just change it regular 50/50 mix

G48 it is, The stuff in the expansion tank is as near as dam it clear/slightly murky. Not blue or green though, might be weak oat. Guy before me changed the temp sender then topped up with water.

thats not good. V8s need cooloant flush and change every year to 50/50 mix.

you will notice the temp wont even go above half way. even in traffic with 25degree temps outside.

Sounds about right, the temperature stays just at the end of the blue, it hovers up and down, doesn't get hot. Needs a good flush out then?

Does that mean crap has built up in the engine block, and now the heat isn't being taken away? Wouldn't have though it would make that much difference!

Wouldnt the water in the engine still just heat up but at a slower rate until the thermostat opens?

anti-freeze dont just stop the water from freezeing it should have anti-corrosive's in it as well with just water the ali block will rust and block the rad and the waterways in the block, the coolant will help stop the car from overheating as it makes the water boil at a higher temperatur

it seemed easier to put rust than furring for someone asking about anti freeze and not having any, ok chaps, sorry for any confusion for those that know everything:D

Ok, bought some oat that's suitable for aluminium engines from local factors today. Going to flush it out tomorrow and refill with water, empty. Then pour all the oat in 5 litres of it top up with water until full.

That should get all the residual coolant out?

Was full off weak oat. When I drained it, it was clearly Orange, phew. It was just not visible in the expansion tank. It is now though.

Sorted.
