Yesterday, I turned on my CB for the first time in about ever and monitored it for a bit. Nothing on any channel at all. Not even truckers on 19.
Is CB dead?
Is CB dead?
Same here. It was made by G.E. in the 80's, I think. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a magnetic mount.I don't have one installed, but I do have a portable and a mag-mount aerial.
It only goes with me if LZIR ever gives me a call.
Very odd conditions giving a 400 mile range.
CB is still in use between some boats on the Norfolk broads, I'm almost ready to put it in the 110. And when I get the boat back from re-engining it will get a CB too.
The boat aerial will be some sort of retractable base station aerial as many of the mooring areas are heavily blanketed by trees.
Then with a base station at home. me and SWMBO should be able to talk as mobile phone coverage is crap round here.
I know from 30 years ago that due to there not being many hills around here, 30 miles is quite a normal range for a base station the best I ever got back then was central Scotland! Very odd conditions giving a 400 mile range.
