Hi all, I've not made it to a Billing show yet, but this year plan to.
The question is, is there enough to do for the wife and an 18 month baby
girl? Is it family fun or crazy land rover nuts only?

Advice appreciated,

Dave.

I now only go to Billing for one reason, and that is to support the
Green Lane Association (GLASS). There are some of us on here who are
beginning to think that Bling is an overpriced, over rateed circus,
that is more about profit than atmosphere.

Imagine thouasands of camping units, all parked with just a couple of
feet between them, and then think of the consequences of a fire......
Never mind the idiots who drive around until 3am, ****ed out of their
brains because they have an unsilenced V8, or in some cases unsilenced
TDi's...

Hate the show, hate Richard Green.....

See you all there......

there is theft, fights, and more of the mayhem.
last year there was no atmosphere, and this year i am going to the war
and peace show (the boats a lot cheaper too, 400 pounds in stead of 600
pounds.)
if anyone's going, and wants some grolsch,
please tell me, we only take 10 cases with us ;)

It's a chav-heavy, sweaty-arsed, pikey-scumbag of an event. It's
outgrown the small site, the camping is wedged together and petty theft
and disturbances are a regular occurrence. Security is there in body,
but not in mind. The bogs are ****ing atrocious - sorry, but no other
way of describing the stinking cesspits and puddles of **** you have to
wade through for a slash - and that's the ladies. Cars are allowed to
drive through the site and mix with pedestrians, people reversing onto
their pitches block the avenues and are a hazard particlularly when
little children are about - so I wouldn't take yours.

It's been like this for too many years, but the organisers do nothing.
I gave up 2 years ago and will never go back. Instead the LRW show at
Eastnor is good, and this year I'm thinking about the LRO show at
Malvern which is a good open site with proper facilities.

Next year I hear that LRM are going to Manby, so that might be worth a
try.

I hope the earth opens up and swallows Billing next weekend.

Malvern was an excellent show last year.

Well I'm glad I read this. No way am I camping there now. Last thing I want
is poor facilities, thieves, and nutters thrashing around at all hours near
my kids.
Anyone who is still going want my camping pass?

when i last went (2 or 3 years ago i think), some pikeys came and
parked up about 6 inches from the side of the gazebo me and my mates
were sitting in and camping round. Despite our opposition to this they
stayed and then had the cheek to start whinging at us for making too
much noise through the whole evening/night.

Later at night daddy pikey staggered out, started ****ing on our tent
and had a bit of a rumble with the guys who were still up in our
gazebo (you dont deliberately **** on someones tent!).

I've not felt inclined to go again, though im considering making a
single day visit just for the show.

When i was walking around the unofficial campsite in the field next
door looks very civiilised so if i were to stay it would be there.

A lot of what is said is true. The show itself seems to have lost its
way. I only go for the social aspect, and we camp outside the grounds
(with the Range Rover Register) - much more civilised.

I also go to help on our Club's stand, and have found that most people
at the show are like-minded and pleasant. At most big events, you'll
find trash, and not just on the ground.

We've always had a good time, but we gave up on it 2 or maybe three
years ago. We camped with friends and it was great, but stories of
the overcrowding are no exaggeration. Some bits of the site seem to
be more chavtastic than others - we were right on the outside and
seems to fare OK.

It's all very commercial and just too busy to be really relaxing.
Eastnor is the best I've been to, shame I've only managed to get there
once.

I went for six or seven years (and really enjoyed it!) but have not been for
the last two. Clearly things have changed a lot. I don't feel too bad
about not making it this year given the comments on the ng.

Well that's my mind made up as well. It's only up the M1 from me but I
think I'll take the family to Malvern instead now. As it's our first
show we don't really mind...well I don't ....I'm sure the wife will be
OK.

cheers

We went for five years religiously, camping for the full week ( on the river
bank overlooking the arena / stands ) - then in 2004 a transit van full of
W##kers squeezed between our pitch and the neighbouring pitch ( no more 2
metres........ ) and set up there shanty town, at 2am in the morning - music
blaring and crashing around till 5 in the morning, 5-6 kids and 4 adults -
when they got up for breakfast they started on the beer. Don't get me wrong
and each to his own - but that's not my idea of courtesy and camping.
We NEVER dared leave our tents / vehicles unattended.

The above coupled with the cold showers, queue's, crap arena shows ( David
Bowyer demonstrating winching in the main arena to 3 people !! - wake
up!!!!) made our minds up.

I met some fantastic people and made good friends, but I won't ever go to
Billing again

We went to Malvern last year (first show) and had a great time. Camping
areas good and well supervised, litter bins emptied several times a day,
lots to see, lots to buy (ouch) and in a beautiful bit of the world. The
off-road course was a bit tame, but fun all the same. We're going again
this year.

William,

It's 26th/27th August

I wonder if that is the assholes transit who threatened to cave my head in
with an axe? I snuck in at 4am and let the handbrake off letting it roll
nicely into the water. There was a howl of protest when they found it early
doors but no-one gave a toss about their predicament. Served them right
too!!!

Me too, hopefully. question is, where are we going to gather? Last year,
we were on the 101 stand next door to glass, which was perfect. Is this
likely to happen again, or are we going to have a separate enclave
somewhere?

I usually snip bits of postings to which I'm making a reply, however,
given the above words could so very easily have come from this
keyboard, I thought I'd just nod and leave it all in :)
