well, such *was* the case. I rather think that there may have been some
kind of shake-up in the 101 rivet-c^H^H^H^H^H^H^H owners club though, I
don't know if that affects shows though.

Indeed, and this comment has already been interpreted by some (alright
'one') as meaning there's been lots of naughty disclosures about
secret internal club dealings...

However, and notwithstanding chinese whispers and mountain molehill
conversions, my view has always been fairly simple when it comes to
shows - especially those poorly attended by members of any one club.
If there's space and spare tickets it's better they get used rather
than go to waste.

Malvern last year was a good case in point - there were NO members of
our club, apart from myself, turned up for the duration of the show,
and even then we occupied an equally unattended ARC stand rather than
the area dedicated to our club as it were nearer the bogs and showers,
and bigger - obviously!

I will always maintain this stance for any show I organise for
(whatever) club. My previously made comments about not being able to
guarantee space or freebies were based upon me not knowing which
shows, if any, I may organise. (So there's no "misunderstandings".)

You'd think the ARC would have got some people together. I didn't realise
that it wasn't the 101 bit, in fact. Doesn't say a lot for the ARC... tsk.

So, what's the plan for Malvern this year? I assume you're going, even if
only as a private individual?

Well, I'm planning on going, and have long since applied for a club
pass. Mind, things may change, possibly club related, more likely due
to me not being in a fit state to attend (more of that at a later
point).

I'd hope that next season ULRC may be able to claim a club stand,
which will make it easier, I'm sure, for some :)

this now a bit iffy? If you might not be there, I should be booking in with
LRO as we still intend on going.

I plan on going. It _may_ be the case that I will not be able to (I
will not be able to say until after the 1st August). I think I said
that if I were entrusted with the organising of the show, as with last
year, and there were any free tickets, like last year when we had a
very low interest from the 101 club, then you could have a ticket.

I also think I said that notwithstanding freebies, if we had the same
space as last year, you'd be welcome to join us.

FWIW, as things stand at present, I very much doubt I'll be entrusted
to organise the show for the 101 club - (after organising Eastnor for
4 years, I was also not entrusted to organise it this year - which was
kind of nice to see it from a 'member' point of view) , but there may
very well be other alternatives and possible freebies. I cannot
however, offer any assurances or guarantees - full stop.

Sorry if this seems a bit officious, but I'm being somewhat cautious
due to certain 'politics' ATM and already have too many pointysharpy
things firmly implanted between my shoulder blades to take any more
sh!te, so need to ensure the record, as they say, is "on the level".

Fair enough - perhaps you could let me know the situ after 1st August, and
I'll hold off booking anything until then. I'd much prefer to be with youze
guys (it was a long walk back to the caravan field in the pitch black, even
with beer satnav), but we're going whatever. It's more fun to share the
labour and refreshment with a few likeminded, that's all.

Nope, it is the plan and I'd hope ULRC could collectively put on a
club display to rival any of the others :)

yeah, sounds good to me. I'll even hunt some paint and paint the top
tailgate on Edward II.

As for Malvern, if the layout is the same as last year, there should be
space round the back of GLASS, and if ARC don't put up a better showing,
then we'll nick some of their space too. wonder if they've got a site plan
anywhere...

nah, can't find one. maybe if you book as an exhibitor you get one...

That's a positive thing for them to do at times. The last 4 years
when I've organised Eastnor I've always got a much larger stand than
originally given.

An aside, but this year it'll be the ALRC stand (they changed their
name earlier this year).

A bit of history goes that there used to be an annual gathering called
the All Rover Weekend. This was until recently held at the Town and
Coutry Festival at Stoneleigh in September. We've had some very good
turnouts for this in the past - and the 101 Club used to take a part
of that (always very large) stand.

Last year organisers changed for the Count and Townie Show - and
effectively made it impossible to hold the ARW there - so at the last
minute Nick from ARC moved the event to Malvern.

I decided to pitch on the ARC stand to at least make it look a bit
inhabited - being the only 101 there from our club for the weekend,
didn't want to look like a spare prick at a wedding, being on my own
on the 101 club stand...

This year A(L)RC may have a better turnout, so again, not only is it
not for me to say, it's also not within my control to do any
organising for any club. I'll be there, as a punter, not representing
anyone other than myself.

Richard, I too am busy sourcing tickets. Thjis year LRO are demanding
that all personnel attending are named.... god knows why. I tow the
trailer to the shows, but am not involved in the organisation of shows
atm.....

Probably twigged that people were passing spare tickets around, so they're
trying to jumnp on it by having names on 'em or something. Either that or a
list on the gate and if you're not on the list then you're not in.

It'll hit them harder as people will not bother, trade will drop, traders
will pull up stumps and it'll all fold.

Never paid to get in Biling as we always parked on the industrial estate and
walked in, always offered but even the guys on the gate wouldn't take our
hard earned for pedestrians, now thats the spirit. If you're camping then I
guess it's fair to pay but the prices are a rip off. If your contributing
then there should be some reward. Some military shows actually pay for your
fuel never mind charge you to go.
