Hi all,

Is a Defender 90 wider or is the driving position better than that of a Series 3? I have a Series 3 I'm slowly restoring and the driving position is very tight (the door is literally resting on me) being over 6ft. I'm looking at getting a 90 from Rugged Guide in the coming months to use most days but am worried that comfort will be an issue.

Thanks

Will

I have had the bulkhead removed in my defender and I find mine very comfortable, I am 6ft3 so know your pain hear but without the bulkhead its alot more comfortable...

Land Rovers were designed in the 1950s when everyone was 4ft 6ins tall and weighed 6 stone. At least, that's what I assume. I took the seat back out of mine and replaced it with a sheet of carrimat to give me a bit more room and added some padding to the door where I kept banging my knee.

I'm 6'2" and find there is plenty of room for my knees in the driver's seat. Do you have a very large steering wheel or something??

The shoulder thing isn't really a problem - just wind down the window.

Series doors dont have any trim panels so there seems to be more room to move around. Maybe that is the difference in some cases?

I'm a 6ft 4" rugby player so not the smallest of people! I think the Series 3 is/was a farm Landy. I'm not really sure how to tell? The steering wheel is big when compared to say a Fiesta. I do find my leg jammed between the wheel and door. I have removed the rear seat cushion and it is a lot more roomy but far less comfortable. I couldn't go far with it like that!

I'll have a look at the links above Boris113.
