Hi. I'm new to this forum. Thanks in advance for any help guys. I have this highly irritating noise on my Landrover 4. It started off mostly rearing its ugly head when going downhill after I took my foot off the accelerator. It now however is worse and even whines when I put my foot on the accelerator. It is intermittent and comes and goes. I have attached a two minute video of the sound and as you can hear, in this particular clip it goes away on its own. But ... It does come back again later...any help in identifying the source of the noise will be greatly appreciated. Please find a copy of the video here as it is too big to post on this forum https://www.dropbox.com/s/890ckuvdorlwefv/20180430_130139.mp4?dl=0

hi

it sounds like a belt slipping , or maybe a belt tensioner bearing ????

also see you’ve got an airbag fault

if i may suggest to get that into a garage and onto a diagnostics reader , ASAP, so that if anything untowards is happening it doesn’t get worse

do u have the 3.0 TDV6 engine and what year is it plse

just listened to it again, have u turned the heater fan and aircon completely off to see if it’s still there

Found it.

I'd do as gstuart advises and take it in for diagnostics check

good the link worked , ive got the TDV6 engine and indeed would never ignore a noise like that , if it’s just a simple belt will be a bonus

alas don’t know the age of the D4, mileage , engine and if the belts are due .??

Does it only make the noise when moving? I'd try stopping when it squeals and have a listen under the bonnet. Could be something simple like a belt as suggested.

No its definitely not the wife.
Seemed to disappear toward the end of the vid.
Could be belt but could be anything like power steering pump.

lol, ;)

Hopefully the OP gets it into a garage asap, must admit i would stop driving it until the noise was identified

fingers crossed it just a belt, but it’s the unknown that would worry me
