Hi all,
Still trying to find out what is whining on my drivetrain...replaced the VC and support bearings (with good OEM bearings), replaced the oil seal and collapsable spacer on the rear diff but still getting a whining bearing type noise when i take my foor off the accelerator from the front of the car somewhere.
I got under and felt all of the drivetrain for hot spots, diff was slightly warm, props and VC along with UJ's were not hot, but the IRD front bearing/CV assembly was quite toasty..not to the point where I couldnt keep my hand on it but still, quite uncomfortably hot to hold!!

So, with the cooler etc on this box what sort of temp should it be running at, or is warm-Hot quite acceptable?

Mine has been whining since the day i got it. I have replaced ird, vcu + bearings, rear cv joints, rear diff, rear prop section and tyres all round and it still whines just the same as yours does so im just going to live with it.

same herei think chief-just spent £1800 on it (which included new Michelin latitude cross tyres all round)..
I'll worry when I hear gear teeth crunching I guess! just annoying as my other Freelander was a silent motor!
