IRD installation HELP - what's wrong with this picture?

This is not meant to be a photo caption contest, but feel free if so inclined.

I'm reinstalling my IRD after having the bearings and seals replaced. Where the IRD slides into the gearbox, there seems to be an extra 1/4" of material that was previously covered by something, as though it used to be in the gearbox. All four mounting points are completely flush between the IRD and gearbox. It's been about a month since I removed it so now I can't definitely say how much it previously stuck out. Is it possible that the shop simply cleaned up the entire surface, or is something actually wrong/missing here?

if its bolted up top and bottom ,it will look like that the tube has oring that seals in gear box ,its because its machined surface and cleans up different to rough casting
 
Thank you very much for the quick response. I'll continue with the rest of the reassembly with a little more confidence.
