Hi guys,

Names Kyle living in Norfolk got a 2002 Freelander 2.0L TD4 5DR ES which is getting converted to a commercial once I have repaired the turbo. Looking to put on a BOV, Snorkel, EGR Blanking, It has 225/55r17 on at the minute trying to work out if 225/65r17 will fit they are about a 28.4" tyre. So that is my plan for my landy.

Snorkel on a gaylander not needed by the time the water is that deep you will be floating but keep dreaming the world needs dreamers lol

i missed that bit, lol, agree ref the snorkel, or a raised air inlet in other words

seen a few kits for them and they look terrible, know i wouldn't ever take a vehicle deeper than its wheel arches , seeing the amount of electronics and risk of hydrolock

BOV just helps the with high pressure on turbo so partly helps it and makes a cool sound. Just need to waterproof/water resist the electrics which is easy, as i have already done it to my Freelander. Now regarding the snorkel, me and a mate made one out of stainless and put it on his Freelander and we needed one as we waded through a 1m flood in my village due to a heavy shower. So mate if you want to talk **** get your facts rights about the Freelander don't start something dude and i don't know how they are gaylanders as there are lots of the buggers on the road and you don't see many old range rovers about as they have basically died of age now but the Freelanders are still about and running

breath , don't get so stressed, lol, it's called banter between @biketeacherdave and i, blimey make sure the likes of @Nig doesn't see this,

within the land rover world they were designed as soft off roaders and got the name gaylander or hairdresser cars a long while back , they will never loose that name, so i'm afraid being an owner of one u will have to get used to it being called that and ur leg pulled ;)

alas they do have a restricted height clearance they can't keep up with the larger land rovers , not saying there not capable but when there's deep ruts etc they will just bottom out , not having low / high box they do alas have there restrictions , vcu system works very well and the freelander was the first to have the hdc

that's some achievement taking one through 3 foot of water , at least it gave the fishpond in the boot a wash out, lol , ur braver than me that's for sure, i wouldn't take mine through deep water , don't fancy a 5k bill for a new engine

plus don't forget no piccies it didn't happen, lol

surprised the doors don't come off with it getting that wet,

they drive very well on the road, comfortable , within the land rover range there at the bottom for capability

u will find the forum a great place to be and make good friends, but u will need a thick skin, it never personal just banter

Fek oft.

LR recommends 40cm as the max depth for a Freelander 1. Trying to go through 100cm or suggesting it's ok is too much of a risk. Get stuck and yer in trouble. Flood water is dangerous and unpredictable. It lifts drain covers and hides objects it puts in yer way like branches, rubble and rear axles that fall oft tratters etc. 1 cubic meter of water weigh's 1 ton. Trying to push a few cubic meters of water out the way while the wheels are submerged runs the risk of loosing grip beyond what the vehicle can correct. Yer not pushing the lateral weight of the water. Yer pushing it out the way. Yer run the risk of killing the Freelander.

Such is the risk of the situation becoming more dangerous if a vehicle begins to float LR added an additional safety feature where the doors automatically fall off when water is detected.

This is sometimes misunderstood as a design fault.

:D:D

that is indeed a serious amount of water at that depth , amazing for the engine not to hydrolock at that level

there was a series that tried going through the floods around here some 3-4 years ago, was a ford next to a small bridge , instead of going over the bridge decided to go through the ford, one locked engine

we've all seen the mad driver try and drive through water as quickly as possible, only to destroy the engine

could agree more in what ur saying regarding the hidden dangers

a metre deep would have been up to where the fuse boxe sits ,

this one always amazes me in how the hell he made it through to the other end , alas be it a lada
