Hi
My hubby brought a new toy so we are now proud owners of a 1999 defender TD5 110 in ruby. Now christened Ruby and enjoying taking the dogs out and the kids too.

She has a few niggles as you expect. As newbies to this we will no doubt have questions.

Our first question is where to get a new fob for the remote alarm/immobalizer? We only have one.
Local firm quoted me £100 inc programming is this a good deal?

welcome to you all, hope you enjoy the Fender - on a small note - there is only one kind of Rugby - that's Rugby League :):)

Welcome to LZ. :)

And ignore what he said about the rugby^^^^^^^^^. He just can't spell Union. ;):D

I am merely extending a warm welcome I will have you know! - you only like Rugby due to the canal boats available there! lol

As it happens. Rugby, the place, is my least favourite part of the system.
The approach on the Oxford is a bit slow and dull.
And the town itself it the pits, some big train sheds, the public school, and three wire donkeys.
I have great sympathy for 110Woman, and the few other members who live there.

Welcome :) note you're in Uxbridge - I'm a Hayes boy, but moved out just over 6 years back and now live in the country. Go back fairly regularly though !

First things first ? Security. And the general rule with Landy's is the more, the better....

Thanks, hubby is on to that and the pedal lock arrived yesterday. Any ideas on imobalizer fob?

£100 doesn't sound out the way at all - just make sure the alarm is decent one to start with, and be aware that only having one fob means the other may be out there somewhere....

If it were me I'd be getting my own alarm put in. If it's the standard LR alarm you're talking about they're not worth toffee - get rid of that and get a decent cat 1 fitted instead. Alarms are only as good as the instal as well, if you want one done there's a place local to you that I've used for years, they know their stuff and do the job properly. If you want their details PM me. You may also want to look at some kind of Tracker for it and a Disklok.

I was in Halfords on Sunday gone and noticed they do a DAB Radio/satnav that also has an option for a behind the dash tracker fitted - this not only allows you so see your route, contact for help in an accident but also is allows you to down load an app and show on your mobile the exact position of your vehicle. This tech is becoming more standard in new cars but I feel is a great addition to any vehicle for a security option. Sorry never noticed the price or make.
