4.6 HSE 1996. Intermittent warnings on the dash include sunroof open, traction failure, ABS fault, gearbox fault.

The sunroof doesn't work, so I expect that to show, but the others are a mystery. Simply turning the ignition off and back on again clears the faults. I know P38's have a history of this and I've read some of the threads, but I think I could be reading all night and some of you will have obvious answers. I'd appreciate any help with this. The car drives OK, so the faults are annoying, but not making much difference otherwise.

check the earth and power leads from the battery, check for corrosion and bieng loose. also dont forget if you take the battery off/disconnect it you will need the eka code to get it going again!!

poor battery can also cause these symptoms as well as knackered alternator. get the multimeter out and check battery and charge voltages and also have a good look round for anything obvious!!!

Ta Gav. Bought this to replace my DSE, but its a dog compared to the one I had pre-crash. Was gonna aout this and repair other. Torn!

how much did ya pay for it?

£2500. Has an LPG conversion and was shiny and pretty so I bought it.

I s'pose I should be happy with it for that money, but I'm comparing to the DSE which was in better overall nick. I thought the LPG conversion was worth the spend, so I'll sort the niggles and learn to love it... eventually :(

buy the dse back and cabbage the hse. you can then sell me the engine for £350 and that way the hse's other parts can be sold on ebay for at bit of cash to recoup some of your losses!!
