Hi all :)

Got a p38 that starts fine first thing and no engine light on however if I turn it off then back on the engine light comes on (spray nozzle) and it seems to be in limp mode and turbo not kicking in at all , ive had turbo issues a while now with the hoses being sucked in and collapsing which I bought metal inserts and silicone hoses so they no longer collapsed .

Engine light and no turbo kicking in is a new thing , I also get alarm fault on the dash display not sure if connected .

anyone any Ideas ?

thanks

MIL light is most likely needle lift sensor or CPS, diagnostics would confirm.
No idea about the alarm fault but worth checking the battery and alternator output.

If the hoses are being sucked in you have a blockage somewhere. Them being sucked in at all should have rung warning bells, they should be pressurised, fitting inserts and silicone hoses was a bit of a daft thing to do to cure it. You need to remove the intercooler to make sure it is clear and check the turbo spins with no lateral or axle play. Then get diag on it for the rest of the problems.

They were collapsing on the turbo exit which would mean the turbo was not working and tge air demand was greater than the turbo output , yes it was a warning however needs must and quick fixes are sometimes they only thing a budget allows .

But that is no fix at all it's a bloody bodge up and an expensive one at that. Would have been cheaper to rig a hose direct to the air filter. If you were that desperate for transport. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROV...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e95284b1f

I have flushed out the intercooler last year with warm water and fairy liquid I've no idea if there's a certain stuff to do wash it out with ? I'll strip it and re wash it soon as I can and put another turbo on (with new hoses)

Acetone is a good degreaser for the intercooler and EGR valve (if fitted), flush it through and leave to dry out...and don't smoke!

Your injection warning lamp still needs to be sorted too....diagnostics required...as Datatek says, CPS or No 4 Injector are common culprits!

Just nearly fell off my chair. An internal soaking of Paraffin or petrol swilled about a few times followed by some Acetone would have removed more crap. Nothing wrong with the hoses you have, it's the reason for fitting them in the first place that was a little dodgy.

Nothing pompus just sense. By the way anyone that was into biomechanics would know it was one word not two. Up yours.
