Hi Fellas.
I have an intermittent problem with my 300 series disco 3.9 V8 (1996) . It fires first time like a dream, but after a short run and I turn it off, it won't restart or turn over. I have found it appears to reset itself if I wait long enough, (I was stuck outside the chip shop for 2 hours the other night).
Fearing it might be the solenoid on the starter I have fitted a new one, but the problem is still there. My manual suggests to try the inhibitor switch on the auto gearbox and I was wondering if there was anyway of testing this theory before I shell out another £80.

Any help is appreciated.

Is it, it won't turn over or it won't restart if it's the latter then it could be that you have a faulty temp sensor telling the engine management that the engine is cold and therefore supplying an enriched mixture.
I'm sure you would have checked the simple things, ie the air filter is ok and the connections on the coil also pipes etc etc.

If it won't turn over then the inhibitor switch 'could' be a suspect but you don't see much on this in the various LR forums so not a common problem, Did you try moving the selector back & forwards at the time.

Ignition switch may be??
