Hi all

First of all i have a td4 03 plate. On sunday i pulled up to a junction and pulled out a little to far so put it into reverse and just as i began to move a grinding type noise started coming from the engine bay at about 3000 revs. tried it a couple of more times in the day and some times id would do it and sometimes it would not. However this morning just as i started the engine i went about 30 yards in first gear and the noise came on for about five seconds then went of its sort of a grinding or grateing noise i just hope the gearbox is not on the way out any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

thanks to all paulhed

Hello blippie

The answer to your last post is that it has done 47.200 miles and their does not seem to be any problem with the clutch but also i dont think any of the fluid levels have been checked or topped up since the car was brand new i hope this helps you

cheers paulhed

Mine sounds exactly the same only it can be heard more in second gear. I put mine into a garage under the warranty, they diagnosed it as a worn clutch and flywheel which the warranty wouldn't pay for and I got the bill. Problem went away for about a week and then returned and the warranty people have washed their hands of it. So I'm still trying to get it sorted and will watch this post with great interset.

Mines a 2002 TD4 with 56k on it

Good luck
