Hi all, I have an issue with my interior lights. They all come on when you unlock the car or open the doors but none of them will operate manually from the switches on the light units.

Yesterday I fitted LED bulbs to all three which give a really nice White light but I noticed when driving home tonight that they all continue to glow very faintly all of the time including when the car is locked and alarmed.

Thanks in advance

LED's need very little forward current to start glowing, am guessing that there is some solid state switching circuit in your vehicle that is "leaky" .
Not up on your car tbh too many electrickery things probably down to my suggestion though as LED's will conduct minimal current and glow while filament bulbs will not due to higher internal resistance

Hi, those lamps have permannent live feed and the ON command is on the earth path, for automatic function from the BCU which as you said works and through switches also an earth which is common in an earth header behind the RH rear trim pannel... there might be a capacitive reactance on the earth path from the BCU which can make the LED's glow a bit, or an earth "leak" to the clusters

if you want to troubleshoot you need RAVE(use search for that) and if you've got it i'll tell you where to look

Thanks for your replies, not overly worried about the slight glow as it actually looks quite smart and shouldn't drain the battery? Will check out the earth header though as I would like to be able to switch the lights on sometimes.;)
