Freelander 2 (LR2) intercooler oil leak

I have had an anoying oil leak from my front bumper. Took it off and and its coming from around the end of the intercooler. All the connections are tight and no apparent damage. Anyone come accross this before?

The seal between the end cap and cooler matrix has failed. It's pretty common, and an unfortunate side effect of a part made down to a price.
Radiators made using the same construction technique also suffer leakage of coolant.

Have the same problem is there an alternative all aluminium panel available.

The FL2 intercooler is a Ford part, so a performance version from a Focus ST for example should fit.

The dimensions would need to be checked before ordering, but a performance cooler will have welded end tanks, which won't leak under boost.

I'll be interested in any information or fitment issues on that one, as it looks too good to be true.

Mine arrived today INTERCOOLER FOR LAND ROVER FREELANDER 2 2.2 DIESEL 2007-2010 2008 6G919L440ED | eBay. paid £89, it looks well made and its massive. I havent removed my old one yet so not sure if fitment is correct. its 92 cm long.

Hi Newby here i seem to have same issue but mine is on the left hand side as you look from the front, does anyone think it's the same thing the seals?

It'll be the end cap seals failed. Mine is also the same, but I'm not going to buy a replacement unnecessarily.
If it's only a slight oil creep, it's of no consequence really.
