do all insurance companys do an agread valuation or just certain ones?

currently with lancaster but they are closed at the mo so cant ring them.
basically all the mods are declared but what im after is a true valuation of what its worth and how must it would cost me to buy another one of the same spec if the worst should happen.

as im sure they would only wanna pay me bottom dollar if they could

Hi Wiltshire,
Have you looked on Glass's Guide? They can tell you what your vehicle's retail market value is today. Then you will know what a it would cost to replace. I bought my freelander about two weeks ago, I had to check with Glass's Guide as i bought my Gap Insurance with Confused.com. Their terms state they will pay the difference between the motor insurers payout and value of my car on the day i bought my gap, subject to Glass's Guide valuation.
I would strongly suggest you have a look on Glass's website and recommend Gap Insurance to all of our fellow Landyzoners, if anything was to happen to my Landy, i would be so upset!

Regards
Nikki

Nikki 555 I think the point is Wilty wants to get what it's WORTH, not what the book price says it's worth. I reckon most LR enthusiasts vehicles are worth much more than the book price.

I was with Sureterm and they asked me to send in photos and things, I took photos of the chassis, all 4 sides, interior, engine bay etc and they gave me an agreed valuation, it took the value up to something I was pleased with, they had it down as £800 on their system, and any of you who know me will know that it is worth more than that!

I am not with them anymore because they wanted £1500 for my renewal because somone ran into me and it was not settled at the time of renewing the insurance. I argued I had not made a claim and they had not yet found the driver at fault but they wouldn't listen, so I guess if everything goes well they are a good insuranace company, if not they are a bit ****ty and they are the brokers only and are useless at helping you when you need to contact the company that's actually insuring you then they claim you're not on their system!

yes the glass guide will only give a price based on a standard model.mine is far from standard,i reckon ive spent in the region of 3k modifiying it to the stage its at now.

im wiv lancaster so must give them a call and see wot they say.

Was insured with A Flux last year and they put down an "agreed" value of £4k just because that's what I said.
Just renewed with Sureterm (better cover & cheaper) but they want pictures of everything & everywhere before they'll agree a value.

It's a very valid question.

I read in one of the LR mags the other month that 1 in 10 Defenders in the UK will get stolen at some point in it's life

This is the form that sureterm ask you to fill out if you want agreed valuation LastScan.jpg
