instrument cluster

Hi all hope you can help me with a problem just bought a d2 td5 roblem have found is when switching lights on get no instrument or dash button lights and no front or rear drivers side lights but everything comes on when I go on to full beam everything then goes off again when on dipped any ideas thanks

Yes, probably the stalk is fubar, replace it albeit it can be a wiring or fusebox issue too but you can't chase that untill the stalk is not ruled out
