That got your attention!

Seriously I have been chasing problems that don't exist but did have a less than perfect engine response - did all the stuff - MAF Synergy EGR bypass BMW crankcase filter etc - it improved but I could hear all was not spot on - it sounded like an injector - loadsa cleaner improved a bit but still not there.

My wife even noticed ( no offense but cars are not her thing) and said it sounds like tappets!!!! Wot you know what tappets sound like - so I was near Halfords and bought some Wynnes additive ( recently had synth oil change) popped it in and there was an almost immediate change of engine sound - smoother and quieter.

My imagination I thought but no - it's now quieter and pulls really well and fuel consumption has just gone from 33mpg to 36mpg at very quick motorway speeds!

I am impressed - looks like I had a sticky valve lifter.

All good now.

Un there was me thinking it was gonna be a lutus engine swop. Praps next time.

Ha ha but I cannot believe how quickly the engine changed - from what in a petrol seemed like an oily plug fluff to smooth all through the rev range. Now to sort out my shimmy which is defo drive train related now!

Well it worked for me but I don't know for how long so next oil change I might use flushing stuff before new oil.

Greetings Angeloc, can you let me know what mileage your TD4 has done as I have a 2001 with 97000 and getting about 30mpg. Might try this stuff and see.

The stuff I used is a Wynns and it specifically stated it was for diesel valve lifters - it was yellowish in colour.

I have been running fully synth mobil 3000 for about 1000 miles.

Hi. Was it the 'stop smoke oil treatment'?
