Can anyone recommend a good inside view of the series 2.25 petrol engine? Something like a cross-section view (that's easier to make sense of than the one in the workshop manual), or video or similar?

In particular, I'd like to better understand the flow of oil and water around the engine..

From the oil pump, I know it rises to where it mates with the camshaft, but I get lost between there and the oil filter and beyond until "and then it makes its way back down to the sump".

For water, I know it comes in through the water pump at the front from the rad, but I don't know how or where it makes its way around the engine to cool it before returning to the rad a lot hotter.

Goes without saying I'm not much of an engine head at this point.. :)

i cant say ive seen one but are simple coolant enters water pump is pushed through into the block by the gallery at rear of pump flows through block ,up through the head and out to rad at thermostat housing through top hose ,if thermostat is closed it flows down bypass hose back to water pump

200tdi as above has a similar oil flow, from pump to filter, then main gallery which feeds up to cam then head, and down to main bearings ,crank ,crank feeds big ends and oil hole on conrod squirts up to piston

Cheers that's actually a good picture of how the galleries look and where they go. Does the coolant travel around in similar narrow channels like the oil does - ? Or does it have (and need) larger spaces inside the block to be able to pull enough heat out?

the block is hollow in a way same as the head its more of a water jacket ie larger spaces rather than a gallery except were its piped of to go to heater and back, so because of that it ends to cool better at the front than the back

Cheers I found some cross-sections that show the water jacket spaces. That'll do for now, I'll have a better idea when I eventually have to take one to bits.
