Is there any mileage in considering replacing the injectors at high mileage?
Do they wear out appreciably?
Can they be cleaned?
Ta for opinions

I suppose pulling one or two would show if they are dirty or worn but you'd need to inspect the tips very carefully. Are they nearly £50 a pop ?

If it isn’t broke etc etc, injectors will tested as part of their service and then ultrasonically cleaned and spray patterns checked.
Any of the injectors knocking thus indicating wear, if not and the engine running and idle is fine leave alone just stick a bottle of Redex or similar injector cleaner in the fuel tank and leave it at that.

Very good point.. ;)

I agree with that
Yes £50 a pop
I have never had them out
She misfires at high revs and not cracked it yet so just wondering if injectors die after too long

I had mine cleaned last year (V8). I had a warm start issue, and a smelly exhaust. Having eliminated lots of other potential causes I bit the bullet and stripped out the injectors and sent them off. New o rings and filters, with a report on spray patterns. c£80 iirc - they will tell you if one is up the creek and needs replacing.

Thanks guys
I have a sonic bath but cant really check the pattern
Sending them away sounds good, any recommendations as to where to?

injectortune.co.uk (Wiltshire) is what i used - there and back was about a week. On checking, it was actually £110, but much cheaper than replacing with new, or even 2H

Lots of information if u Google ‘how to clean fuel injectors’ I’ve never had any injector issues, but it appears from my quick search the injector spray Is okay with just an even fan patten plus any cleaning can be done with carb cleaner.

Also instead of dismantling the fuel rail the injectors can be tested individually with a piece of electronic kit as shown. What ever next :)

Can you not just pull it out and stick it in a cut off bottle or something and run the car briefly to check it is spraying evenly?

Misfire under high load: have you checked compression?

I cleaned mine on the bench.
  • 12" Length of tube on injector inlet.
  • Fill with carb cleaner.
  • Far end of tube attached to compressor via regulator set to 20 PSI.
  • Point injector outlet into a jar.
  • Pulse the injector with 9V - 12V & see the dirt & crud come out.
  • After a while you get a nice even spray.
  • Fit new seals & re-fit to engine.
Professional cleaning services simply have a machine to mount the injectors & do the same thing !!
