I'm trying to get my injector pump timing set up correctly but I can't seem to get the master spline on the drive gear to sit at 20 degrees. It either sits at 10ish degrees (pic) or if I rotate a one tooth it sits at 30ish degrees. The flywheel is set on the 13degree mark after passing TDC on the compression stroke. If I drop the drive gear in without tightening the grub screw I can get it to sit bang on 20deg but I have to lift the gear slightly to get the grub screw to engage into the retaining hole which throws things out. An ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

I spent days messing with mine. Eventually I started from scratch again with a timing wheel on the crank pulley and hey presto success. I must have cocked something up the first time round and that was with the Turner Engineering cam that can only be set with one keyway that is ready made for series timing.

I set the timing up with dial gauge during rebuild (inc new cam chain) and spent ages checking and double checking. . I've rechecked the timing since and seems OK spot on.

As suggested will check and check again. Bloody thing is doing my nut in.

I couldn’t find the timing mark on the flywheel. That’s why I went with a home made gauge. I just printed a circle off my computer with a line for TDC and one at 14 degrees off that. I may have got the ‘before TDC’ and ‘after TDC’ mixed up. Not sure to be honest but I think my pump drive was about the same as yours.

Go back and check the cam sprocket position in relation to the exhaust valve. You may find a need to fine tune/rotate the Cam sprocket on the fine splines on the cam shaft, to gain the correct setting..., and this should bring the injection timing to where it should be. Looking like a smart engine rebuild..
