When I lift my foot off the accelerator I get a momentary hesitation and the injector light flicks on & goes off. Momentary hesitation on picking up again.Otherwise running very happily.
Help with diagnosis please ?

10 to 1 it says fuel quantity control if you have a diagnostic done on it, every one thats come in with them symptons comes up with that fault. its the little black unit on the side of the diesel pump.

Yes i agree. I have same problem and same fault code. Fuel quantity intermittant fault. If there is an hesitation would look at number four injector connections. It may just be a high resistance connection to that or in multi plug to FIP. Worth checking first.

Thanks guys : is that " little black unit " on the side of the FIP a separately purchasable replacement item ?

i sold a brand new top on ebay only 2 months ago, it went for 70 quid. they do come up on there every now and again. ring bob like wammers said, hes a good bloke and knows his stuff. he has a few second hand units in some times too.

Worth checking the crank sensor.

When the engine is on the over run (deceleration) the fuel quantity measured by needle lift sensor in the number 4 injector goes to zero. To confirm that the engine is running the ECU compares the needle lift revs to the crank revs. If the crank revs show zero too the engine shuts off.
Mine used cut out regularly on the over run, particularly when canceling cruise control. Changed crank sensor, problem gone.

Thanks to you all for the usual help from LZ. Much appreciated.

I had same problem as you, seemed worse when engine warm, but in cold weather. Anyway was recommended to change no4 injector (after reading faults Testbook). No change. Went for FIP full recon and no problems since.
