hey, so the original engine is a 200tdi but it has been swapped out with a 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine. i was unsure and just wanted to make sure. the engine is loosing power and I've done some resource and it could be the booster pin, so i just want to know the location so i can check it and cross it off the listI would say Welcome .
All I can say is its got a turbo and its diesel I am more of a petrol guy.
It sounds as if you need to know a little more about your landy before you look at "booster" pins. and without more info or taking it apart its not possible to tell from those pics.
What does the reg doc say for engine type? or any other documentation you have when you brought it?
A few pics of the overall vehicle would give alot of clues too.
The Diesel guys will be along to advise soon.

on another note, i have an asbestos lining under my bonnet, any idea who I can contact to remove it?There are many more things to check before you dig into where the pin is, As you don't even know if 1 is fitted?
Start with turbo hoses, intercooler.
You are jumping in the deep end .
Post some more pics and the reasons you are having a problem cos I cant help anymore.

Without knowing which country you are in NO. You sure???
Take it off and bury it somewhere?
Use a mask a good 1.

I should type faster.Looks like a 19j.
Never heard of boost pins for them. Refined engine for that era of diesel. But not one to be trashed.
Are you sure you have asbestos under the bonnet? Lots of other materials.
aah okay, I could not find any info that shows a location of a boost pin so thought it did not have it, unlike the 200 and 300 tdi engines. and yeah I have all the warning labels giving warning to asbestos.Looks like a 19j.

yeah i have no idea why it was swapped at all, the car is a 1991That's a 19J engine. Odd that a 200 tdi was replaced with it because the 200 is a stronger more modern engine. What age is the car? No idea on the boost pin, but it's an old engine, liable to head failure and I wouldn't be trying to get more out of it.
Also, how sure are you that it's asbestos? Unusual. If it were me I'd ask the local council.
Show us a photo of this asbestos and the label that says it is asbestos !!on another note, i have an asbestos lining under my bonnet, any idea who I can contact to remove it?
Are you sure, maybe it has a plate from 1991 and its actually an earlier vehicle?yeah i have no idea why it was swapped at all, the car is a 1991
That would be illegal and the DVLA wouldn't authorise it. You can't make a car look younger than it really is.Are you sure, maybe it has a plate from 1991 and its actually an earlier vehicle?
Bet it’s a label for the brake pads….Show us a photo of this asbestos and the label that says it is asbestos !!

Yes I know, that's why I mentioned it. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened that someone has bought a Defender which isn't what it pretends to be.That would be illegal and the DVLA wouldn't authorise it. You can't make a car look younger than it really is.
