Hi All,
Have a 2005 TD4. Have a recent issue that is puzzling me. When indicate to go right all is fine, when indicate left sometimes it works and other times it doesn't, no click or lghts on the dash board.
Any ideas as to why it works sometimes and not others (there doesn't appear to be any reason why as it will work three times, then not for 5 mins, then ok again) and why just when indicating left? Doesn't suggest fuse and bulbs ok.

Thanks in advance. Cheers

Not sure mate but would think its the bulb.might have water in it had to change brake light bulb few month back it was soaking.

Thanx was worth the ask...

My rear lights I drilled a 3mm hold in the botttem of my units as 1 of mine had so e water in nefer had it since

All,

Thanks for your input and replies. The reason I thought it wasn't a bulb is that it works sometimes but not others. If it was a blown bulb wouldn't that mean it just wouldn't work at all?
Anyways will have a look at the bulbs/connections now you've mentioned that there may be a moisture issue.
Cheers

The relay is definitely for all 6 indicators. change it for a heavy duty one if you tow, so unlikely to be a problem.

Do your hazards work properly? uses the same relay, but not the indicator stalk...

Towing relay is the same power rating as the standard relay. The only difference is that the towing relay has a sensor output for the telltale in the dash ;)

On this fault, a fast flash indicates a failed bulb or bad connection. No flash at all would suggest the column switch.

Hi All,

Well, the hazards work fine, the indicator works at the right speed when it works, it's just that it fails to work all of the time.

Will have a closer look at the weekend but all the bulbs are working when they choose to. Hmmmmmmmmmm

Sounds like the indicator switch might be going. One of my friends has a problem with his Freelander switch stalk, and another Disco owner keeps one in the shelf, as he gets through them in about 18 months!!!!

Thanks, it there a way of checking/testing that it is the indicator switch?
Is it an easy thing to remove/replace?
Any guidance gratefully received.........cheers

Hi ALL,

Had the chance to have a proper look round the car at the weekend and it appears the problem was a loose fuse........have replaced and all's ok. Sometimes the simplest things eh.......

In case someone comes across this thread diagnosing a future fault, if a bulb has blown, the dash light will still flash - as Nodge says quickly. So if there's no light on the dash, then the fault is something else - eg the fuse or stalk.

As other say, if a bulb looks like its blown - there's just as much chance the bulb's still OK and its the connection in the ligt fitting.
