Can anyone give advice how to increase the performance on a Tdi300 engine?
Bigger Intercooler? Performance Exhaust? Performance Airfilter?

Or should I opt for an engine transplant - such as a HS 2.8L TGV engine or a TD5 engine? I have read that converting from a Tdi engine to TD5 can be a headache...

I am basically looking for more low down torque... more BHP would also be welcome of course....

:D

Stay away from Td5, All I've done to mine is pretty much what you've already mentioned. I have fitted hyclones as well, and my 90 has plenty of pull. Also a safari snorkel will give you a little ram air effect. If you've got money to spend you can think about have your cylinder head gas flowed. I was a big fan of the TGV's but I've just heard that they are no longer making them so parts could be a problem and at £4k start price are a bit expensive to. I'm also told that if you fit one then you should consider strengthening the drive train somewhat.

best value tune for the tdi is to remove the egr thingy. fit a big intercooler and tweak the IP.
if you want even more, then best swap the tdi for the v8 petrol lump.

aye, ive played wif it. didnt like the mpg return though!
so put it back again. now tuned for max economy. im not a speed freek these days. them days have gone now.
i fookin hate paying mr gordon brown.

ps,
a small warning.
this is one of dem jobs that really needs a experienced diesel mech wif all the proper calibration gear.
its not really a diy jobby.

i agree with the warning , i thought long and hard about doing it . only do it if you are sure your engine is in good condition . i didnt do the full tweak , but what i have done has made a difference .

as for the egr , 200tdi's don't have em so i can't help with that .

just remember the engines werent built to deal with extra power from add ons and tweaks. they were designed to work as best they can from off the production line. doing this will put more strain on the engine and other parts.
i'm not saying all add ons are **** ans will break ur landy, but some in the long run will not benefit u and leaving u wishing u hadnt bothered
