Inactive Air Suspen Warning After New Battery & Alternator

First of all, apologies if this has been asked and answered a thousand times but I'm at work and time is of the essence and I keep getting distracted by reading everybody elses threads!

Long story short, bought my first L322 last week, 04 petrol on LPG. Every toy worked (after a little fettling) including the air suspension. It broke down on the way to work last week after all the shut down messages appeared with the final failsafe warning. After getting one of the most incompetent garages in the land to fit me a new battery (just around the corner for where I limped to a halt) , I drove it home after being stood in a dodgy part of the north west (oh and thank to whoever for nicking my alloy dust caps, hope you fall off your BMX) and everything worked a treat. I know I said long story short but bear with me, my intro warned you all that I waffle. The warning came on again and the new battery drained within hours. I managed to get it to the local village garage (heroes by the way, can I plug local heroes on this forum?) and it was the alternators fault. Two days later, a nice shiny battery and Bosch alternator and I've got the beast back but the suspension won't work. It's sitting even all round and I'm using it (only got it back yesterday) but I'm hoping that someone will confirm that the battery needs to be completely juiced for all the gadgets to work on a Vogue as since I've got it back, it's only been used for a 6 miles trip last night with the lights on and wipers and then maybe 10 miles to work this morning, again with lights and wipers. I hoping and praying that a good blast in the dry/daylight will allow the battery to be fully boosted by my new alternator as I haven't scrimped on quality on either (I hope, please don't say otherwise!!) as I want this new toy to be in my life for many years to come

After battery disconnection when powered back up turn the steering wheel lock to lock with a slight pause at the full lock point and the air susp should reset , the lock to lock resets the steering angle sensor which has an input to the air suspension .

Evening. Only just had a chance to try out what you said and sadly it didn't work. I see what you mean though as someone did it on youtube and it worked straight away but no such luck for me. I tried it several times and held at full lock for different periods of time but to no avail. I even tried it with the handbrake off (don't know what I was thinking on that one!)

You could try a battery disconnect /reconnect then carry out the lock to lock procedure again it's worth a try before shelling out on some diagnostics .

I was hoping someone might suggest that! Ta very much, providing the north west weather gives me a break, it's the first job tomorrow. Thanks for the reply

Thanks for that. I will be trying that as well. Got a feeling I might have to invest in a diagnostic machine whilst owning this beastie

I have an all comms myself but noticed earlier theres a new diagnostic thingy on E bay for £109
Range Rover L322 (02-06) Diagnostic Scan Tool Fault Code Reader - iCarsoft i930
don't know if its any good but seems very cheap for a diagnostic compared to all the others on the market .

No good

You get what you pay for !

Range Rovers need specific diagnostic tools not generic readers

Otherwise you won't be able to read and clear certain faults

I had to spend over £1,100 on kit for my L322 !!

Well worth it though

It may read codes but can do nothing about them

I'm as sceptical as anyone about a bit of diagnostic kit for £109 but it's description says read and clear codes and look at live data , I won't be getting one either , I was just pointing it out and wondered if anyone had tried it ?

Tried the battery trick and then lock to lock but still no joy

I'm off to pay the garage on Monday morning before I have the joy of trying to claim the money back off the dealer under warranty so I'll ask them to try your next suggestion of clear the error and then lock to lock. It's got to be something simple as it was working before the alternator swap dammit! It's something that I'll rarely use but I hate things not working. My next challenge after this is to get some pixels sorted and I think I've found someone good for that. Defo going to buy a diagnostic machine though, got a feeling I'll get my money's worth out of it during this ownership. I've seen the RSW for $249 plus shipping but I think I'll try the nasty one for £109 first because if it doesn't do what it says it should then it'll be going back!

Well thanks to everyone who has offered suggestions but sadly the problem remains. Even the garages wonder machine couldn't reset the fault so the lock to lock solution can't work. My new toy is now in for a service on Friday as it's now missing between 30 and 40 mph! I've not even had her a month yet but you can't wipe that smile off my face
