Importing a classic to UK

Hi All, Just joined and looking for any information on importing a classic Landy into the UK.
My Landy is a 1964 series 2a which has spent her entire life in Turkey. I'm slowly getting her back to original glory and would love to drive her back home this coming winter for her 50th Birthday.
According to HMRC a used car must be less than 10yrs old to be able to register it in the UK. Surely folk import classic vehicles all the time. Does anyone have advice on if its possible and how, or who to contact to help.

I've registered imported motorcycles and anything newer than 10 years has to meet all the euro regs etc and have a certificate to say it does. any older than 10 just need a letter from the manufacturer to state the year it was built so you can get an age related plate. (or from a club)
