hi guys

bought mine with the srs light on, was able to knock the guy on price for this,

the passenger pre tensioner has fired after looking closer, so ordered another one off ebay

am thinking ref the impact sensors , can u test them with a multimeter to see if they are any good, i.e. setting it on ohms

my thought is though , will it hurt me plugging in the new pre tensioner in , is there any risk of the air bags going off , same with the impact sensors

just trying to do as much as i can , can see it having to go into a garage so trying to do as much as i can before hand to keep the bill to a minimum

thks guys

well, spent another day trying to resolve this srs airbag light , checking behind every panel on the passenger side

am at a loss if i'm honest

found i think every impact crash sensor

i'm wondering if maybe they have refolded the air bags up and stuffed them back in ??

don't know if that's possible

used the iid to clear the main ecm went out then came back on 10 x secs later

If the seat belt pretensioner has detonated, then the best thing to do is replace all the SRS components. If a sensor is left thats has been triggered, the bags or pretensioners will fire. I would replace everything, as it's likely had an accident.

+1, SRS is something you can't mess with, but ....
It might be a little simplistic, but all those faults showing "General electrical failure - circuit resistance above threshold" sort of makes me think that a plug carrying those circuits might have become dislodged or a harness has been damaged and cut some of the wires. Resistance above threshold does imply open circuit or disconnected to me.

i think after today in not finding anything obvious i think ur right

have a really good mechanic that i know, is now booked in for weds week ,

did also speak to my dad who use to be an engineer and he said exactly the same as u guys have

shame i couldnt get to the bottom of it, it ur spot on something that can't be messed around with and needs to be 100%

knew the srs fault was there, but thought it may have been a loose wire or clock spring

plus better to get it in the garage , so that u don't have to listen to me going on , :D:D

at least i will find out what the garage finds , good bit of knowledge

regardless of all of this i still can't stop smiling with this D3 and wish i had gone one sooner

thks again guys

I'm not sure what type of impact sensors the D3 uses. But I see no reason why they wouldn't go open circuit when triggered. It's better to get the SRS system looked at by a specialist.

these are them , brown for sides and fronts black , £7 quid each second hand

with them disconnected and putting a meter across them they are open circuit , noted the two leads on the pre tensioner through the electrical diagram is one in and one return for the circuit , through the ecm srs module

who fancies a good laugh

i thought right was as u look at the car

checked with iid themselves , it's the drivers side , been looking on the wrong side

oh well at least the passenger side is ok, lol

so will visually check everything on the drivers side now

nothing like me being a complete dimwit

only thing i can think of now is

both pre tensioner went off, knock from drivers side causing errors in airbags

they've replaced only the drivers side and not the passenger side ,

maybe they've repaired some damage to the drivers side and left a wire unplugged ???
