A bit of history with my disco 2.
When purchased it in September 2016 it only had one key so ordered another from remotekey.co.uk which worked perfectly fine as did the original. After a while, probably back in early 2017 the fob part of the original key would only work at close range and then stopped completely even with changing the battery so put it to one side gathering dust.
Late last year I managed to snap the key blade of the replacement due to my own stupidity so we've been using the newer fob with broken blade and the original key for the ignition etc.

About a month ago the newer fob decided after it had been used a number of times that day that it would stop working so EKA code entered and off we go, now amazingly it's at this point that I find the original key fob wants to work and from a good distance which it certainly didn't before.
Changed the battery in the new fob but it still wouldn't work and the next day the old fob decides to give up again as well.

Since entering the EKA code again I've not had to use it since and just unlocking it with the key in the door, which I'm quite happy with but from what I understood the EKA code should need to be entered each time after the vehicle is locked.

So all in all I'm a bit confused as to what is going on. It wouldn't appear to be the receiver as one key would work when the other wouldn't but I don't know why two keys would give up over two days. The only reason I can think of the original key coming back to life is that I had to change the vehicle battery in the summer and from some google searches that can do strange things to whether the disco likes a fob or not.

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Also is it right that I won't need to enter the EKA code until it has been locked with a fob?

And my disco doesn't have any sunroofs so no leaks there.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the passive immobiliser is not disabled and the fob doesnt communicate with the receiver you'll need EKA code anyway... better replace the receiver to be 100% ruled out cos it can suffer from moisture/condensation too or a bad earth to it...AFAIK on modells without sunroof it's above the RH B pillar somewhere, see this http://landroverclubvi.weebly.com/u...odule_troubleshooting_and_upgrade8610nasf.pdf

It's in for the first round of MOST work today and having spoken to the garage they're going to see if they can get their computer to talk to the BCU and see what's up.
I need to remove the headlining to cure the material sagging so I'll have a look at the receiver then.
All very bizarre but then it is a Land Rover.
