Immobiliser programming

I have a defender 300tdi with the ywj500020 immobiliser which I believe is more commonly fitted to a discovery. It has an rf fob like this:

I have the gold 'master' fob and have managed to program one of the two green ones, however I can't seem to program more than one. The procedure stares to hold the gold fob to the sensor and wait for the two beeps then keep holding it until you hear one long beep, then immediately hold your green fob to the sensor where it will beep once (mine actually beeps twice). You then repeat this for upto four green fobs. However whenever I add a new fob it seems to overwrite the old one and only the most recent fob is programmed. How do I get it to add more than one of fob? Many thanks in advance.

I presume that you are not waiting too long before holding the second fob over the sensor. You are correct in saying it should only bleep once, I am having trouble with my own set of fobs so have been reading the installation instructions to try and sort it out. There's nothing in the instructions to help you with fault finding as you know. Have you tried holing the two green fobs together over the sensor at the same time ?
I can't get any bleeps at all with any of the three fobs I have.
