Hi all . How does immobiliser work in your cars? I think there is something wrong in my td5. Just an example: I open my car with fob button, get in, start the engine, turn it off, wait a minute or two and can't start it again ,the immobiliser arms itself. I need to press unlock button again to disarm it and start the engine. Is this normal or maybe there is a setting to change it? In my previous car when I've unlocked it I could start it numerous of time with unlimited time between them as long the car wasn't locked with fob button. Cheers for any advice.

Just checked and both keys have got yellow box, so they are original Disco 2 keys. Is there any way for NC to turn that option off ?

So the keys have two little yellow boxes in them?

Does the problem happen with both keys?

Cheers

If both keys are genuine D2 keys and it happens with both of them then it sounds like your exciter wire around the ignition barrel is not working.

Cheers

I guess if the wire won't work I won't be able to start the car at all. I was just reading about passive immobiliser in Nanocom and it looks like it is that in my case.

No the if you read the manual it will explain the immobiliser kicks back on after iirc 30secs or maybe 60, Which is why you can unlock and jump in the car and start it. But wait and the red led on the dash starts up again, car is now immobilised, thus car will not start.

Unlock on the fob and the car will start again.

Cheers

Thanks for your help. I will try to turn it off tomorrow and see if that helps, if not, I still got a spare ignition barrel set to swap around. Cheers

Just one more thing. Do I need to adapt/set anything after swapping the whole ignition exciter wire or is it plug & play? Obviously I will leave the old key mechanism barrel, just want to swap that black plastic with exciter wire, plugs and electronics.

Is this a new car to you? has it ever worked correctly? Exciter wire is plug and play.

Did you reply to post # 4??

Open the surround and check to see if the exciter is connected correctly in the steering column surround.

Cheers

Yes, that is new one, bought recently as a project to finish few things. I've got other one but v8, never had any issues with it so don't know the topic very well.

The problem is sorted now, I've turned it off in Nanocom, works fine now :)

Thank you for your help and time !!!
