Honest answer is because its a later vehicle, it has the leather door cards etc. You can buy the later door lock surrounds from places like Jaguar | Land Rover spare parts at British Parts UK
Again, the chrome gear shifter surround is because its a later vehicle, HSE spec yada yada yada. You pay through the nose for the chrome gear shifter surround on the 'bay' though.

The only caution I would offer is as it is a 2001 car it will be liable for the new (not very widely publicised) tax disc prices coming in from April 2009. At 304g/km CO2 you will be paying £440 next year and £455 from 2010. The new prices do not just apply to cars when they are new. TD4 Freelanders are taking a hit too - £300 next year!!

Nearish clone of mine in the way of looks! Nice choice on the tyres there as well, those General Grabber UHP's I found have been really good and way better than either the Pirelli Scorpions or the Goodyear Wrangler HP's that Ive had before. They sure as hell dont aquaplane like the other two did and neither do they make as much noise.

I've just put a L322 Supercharged Grill on mine (at the insistence of the missus) - now she doesn't like it and its probably coming off! I'm so glad I wasted all of that money.....

eBay it and get the original back on there, colour code it or have it black but just get rid of that nasty looking thing

It'd probably look quite good painted black on mine, but I've got other things to sort first. Need an ultrasonic pod and new batteries in the keyfob in the next couple of days. Hopefully the mighty ebay will come to the rescue as usual. Got a new stereo amp for the drivers door today for £3.20. Can't argue with that.
