Subtle. Im sure i dont know what your talking about. snigger. :D

I will look at a route, although finding non scratchy routes around Rhayader aint gonna be easy. I will get on it and have a look see, need something to do on my night shift saturday after the football anyway :)

Has your D3 got a sump guard? there is a really nice lane i know, but it has one rocky outcrop that is quite tricky.

If Bumps not in the Disco, tougher the lanes the better ;)

one of the other guys is coming in a standard F2... ... ...

Although his 110 might be finished by then, but, kind of defeats the object of doing a test run on the vehicles...
We can always just do another laning trip for extreme lanes...

Im happy whatever we do, should probably take it easy seen as we would only have a month to rectify breakages

Yeah, think you're right, 1 month to go is too risky. I think a good gentle laning trip, average camp site and excellent pub are the priorities :D

Done a bit of prep work today...

took the expedition roof rack to bits so it's now not as tall and lets the roof tent sit on the main part of the rack - still left the front wind deflector though.

And, installed all the wiring from engine bay to back for second battery, for once all installed properly!

Nice power distribution panel, with volt meter.

Next issue is to work out where i'm going to mount the 2100W inverter and how to run cables through the firewall as they are rather large...

Looks good bump :)

I have my roof rack sorted, just need to get a roof tent but they are so expensive  even on ebay the second hand ones go for a few quid and the best deals are never near me

Got my CB radio, second battery, split charge system and 2000W power inverter still to fit

Oh and I was thinking I might push the boat out and install some speakers! :D

speakers? blimey, you want all the luxuries you do! ;)

Roof tents are expensive - go to a show and see if you can buy a display model... that's what i did.

What second battery have you gone with? I'm looking at getting a Yellow top Optima, but, they're not cheap :/

I know, I'm turning into a greedy bast**d! The problem is, the gf thinks that she has to sing to me in the car and it's fu***ng horrendous!

I think that's what I will do, otherwise I can get a brand new Chinese knockoff off eBay or a 7 year old decent one for the same price but I don't know which would be better..

I have gone for 2 x Odyssey PC1500 batteries. :)

Bump, work to the disco looks goof 

Cartoonhead; I will keep an eye out for a decent tent for you. Shame I have just sold my old one.

My weekend was spent changing my engine  2 weeks ago i decided to take on probably the biggest and most ridiculous project I have ever decided to do before such a big trip. Still I have 4 months to get it finished :p

I run two yellow tops, good batteries although mine now need changing as one has given up. Out of interest what spilt charge systems you guys running? I need to get an Inverter sorted out as well, which brand did you guys go for? There are some cheapish ones on eBay but last thing i need is the cheap unit to catch light or something. I have so sooooo much work to get done on mine :/

I have a Merlin SmartBank split charge system and a Silverline 2000W inverter, but to be honest I think I made a mistake on the inverter, it was just a cheapish ebay jobby and I kind of wish I had spent a bit more. Having said that it feels good quality in the hand..

I need to work out where to mount it though, have you any ideas where you will put yours?

I got the ring automotive 2100w inverter from halfords online. After all discounts cost £208 - most people sell it at 300 online!!! Probably mounted under the commercial decking in the back

I've considered a yellow top but read mixed reviews on them...

Split charger wise I have to use a specialist unit from Australia which costs mega bucks :( installed it on Saturday just need my second battery to test it now.

Why are you all going for mega inverters ? What are you powering ???

Xbox and TV, apparently theres f*** all to do in the Sahara :p

Honestly, I don't really know.. Laptop and hard drives to load pics from the GoPro's each night, maybe a travel kettle.. Thats about all I have planned. But if I am getting a second battery for the fridge anyway, I think it's just a useful thing to have for the future. :)
