I had my Landrover 90 rewired a short time ago due to a glow plug self destructing and causing a wire to melt through the loom which was connected from the plug to the ignition.....ouch

Anyway, got the car back and the guy said he had problems starting it and keeping it running, thought I might have a problem with the ignition too, drove it for a few days after that and all was fine. So thought no more of it.

Until yesterday morning, it cut out twice before I even moved and then when I did get it going it cut out mid drive doing about 25mph in third gear.

Anyone got a spare switch, so i can try the cheaper option of fixing it first, as am sure thats all it needs.

Prefer people in the Northants area i could collect, unless someone want to post it to me

Although kinda need it asap, so any other suggestions as to were to go locally would be much appreciated.

Did look on Paddocks and a new switch is about £11.50 + postage and a whole unit about £35 + postage.(Unsure on there postage price as the sites down:()

First, get a length of wire with a female blade connector on one end, and the other end long enough to reach the + of the battery, and put a wee croc clip on there.

Take the present tag off the stopper solenoid on the injection pump. Make the wire safe - tape it.

Shove on the tag end of your new wire in its place, and connect the croc clip to battery +

This should place the solenoid in RUNNING position. Take it for a run. If it behaves you have a dodgy IGN switch or a dodgy cable or connection somewhere.

Remember, if you do this turning the key off will not stop the engine!
