Ignition Issue

HI all

I was recently rescued from a Supermarket carpark by a nice AA man, after my beloved Defender decided not to start.

Even the AA man was bemused as an avid Defender fan himself. Effectively when you try to turn the ignition, it feels like it doesn't go far enough to make it turn over. Almost like you are struggling to turn off the steering lock (but the steering lock isn't on).

Definitely not an issue with the battery as all lights come on, he checked the starting motor as well.

Any ideas or suggestions much appreciated
