Do you know the warning beep you get if you leave the key in the ignition when its switched off and open the doors - the same as if you leave the lights on etc, well this morning, got the warning beep, but no key in the ignition or any lights on etc?

Is there a switch within the barrell that could get stuck thinking the key is still in there? Is there any easy fix, or just spray a load of WD40 in there? Or is there something else that could be causing this?

(Its a 1996 300 TDi ;))

Hey up

I hade this on mine a few times, if you look in the ignition barrel you will see the piece of metel that moves out of the way when you put the key in. It's this that is connected to the buzzer to warn you of your lights are on when the key is out, and also when the key is in ignition is off and doors are open.

Sometimes this gets stuck so give it a quick lub up, and put the key in a few times, should work a treat then.

Cheers
