My landy is having problems when idling, feels like it is going to stop then struggles for a bit then idles ok again, this happen about every minute or so

I have changed the fuel filter and lift pump, and it is still doing it

I am assuming this has to be air in the fuel as I have had a pipe from the bottom of the lift pump into a bucket of diesel and it ran fine

Should I drop the tank and replace tank pipe and fuel line?

Or just replace fuel line and see what happens

Or is it possible I am missing the true problem ?

Might help if we knew what it was!! if I assume it a defender 200 or 300tdi and a 90 then you can get to the pickup by removing drivers seat rather than dropping the tank.

My crystal ball is currently out of commission due to it having to undergo it's annual maintenance, so a bit more detail would be appreciated :D

What engine?

its a defender 200 110 station wagon the tank is at the rear under the rear floor, someone has cut a small inspection hole about 6 inches, so I can see the steel pick up fuel pipe out of the tank

it runs fine when in motion, problem just at idle, took it to our local landyman and does not think its fuel at all as fuel lines look good

any suggestions
