Im pretty. Sure if he phoned the police road crime unit and asked if it was legal to sell a vin number and log book so someone can use it on a project to gain tax free status he will find them at his door

potentially... i don't have that much faith in our police... although even less in our corrupt biased sh**y courts system.

The fact that he say's in his listing + in a question answer that he is happy to just send the paper work and not the chassis means, yes, he is a dodgy t**t.

If he sold the chassis then kinda fair enough, although it has been radically altered so, it depends when these alterations were done really.

I'll do the very pointless exercise of reporting him.

That's pretty blatant, might be worth reporting.

Ebay don't really care about things like this unless they get some bad publicity out of it, if there was a newspaper article or TV expose of this then they'd be down on it like a tonne of bricks.

the problem i see is how would you word the rule to ban the selling of IDs with the fig leaf of 'a bit of the rotten chassis'? It's easy to ban the sale of vin plates on their own, indeed ebay have done this, but though it's easy for someone with a bit of knowledge like us to see who's taking the ****, you need a rule that can be easily interpreted by the retards who work for ebay.

has everyone missed the bit where the id which it may or may not be legal to sell will also come with valid tax and mot ?

i had seen it, mentioned it when reported to ebay for all the good it does!

The bit that really stands out about it not being legit, is the bit where he states "the chassis has been cut about a bit" That means the chassis is only fit for a Q plate anyway, as it has been modified. As that VIN can no longer go with that chassis, he cannot legally sell it.

at £371 it looks as though some body is in for a shock or have I got it wrong

The chopped up chassis sold for £750, that's just bonkers, you could tax a motor for nearly 4 years for that sort of money, and you wouldn't be breaking the law. Who in their right mind would pay that?

Maybe someone with a dubiously acquired vehicle who wants the ID.

Last one I reported I got an email off ebay saying they weren't aware of what UK laws were as they're based in Luxemburg. and If I thought something was illegal I should contact police or government dept with the ebay link and suggest they contact ebay.
