Afternoon all, done all the fluids in the Disco. Hand brake cable & speedo cable to fit oh & the flippen track rod end
has a stripped nut & the threads are damaged id forgot about this when I took it apart. I think i have one in the shed.
I could just cut a few mm of the thread & see if I can get a decent nut for it.

... I had our chimney swept last week. It had not been done since the log-burner was installed 5 years ago and the chimney liner installed. I was rather surprised at the amount of pure black soot that was pulled out of the liner. Easily 2 buckets full.
Bloke said, "No, this isn't bad at all for 4-5 years worth". Gave us aa certificate of "CLEAN" all for a mere £65

I got a quarter of a bucket after two years, I was burning mostly old pallets though and they burn very hot and clean
 
I shall be going off for a 3 day cycling trip to Cambs next month. It has been a rather sudden decision.
So I am scrambling to get the delta trike "match fit". The seat fabric has mostly perished and I need to replace it, but they no longer support this trike and a new seat mesh is not available so I must make my own.

Today I dragged the little £/$120 "gimp-suit-maker" out of the bottom garden shed and loaded it up with gimp-stitching thread, The result is not particularly pretty, but I think it will do the job.

Here is the overall "tube-sock" of Phifertex. There is a folded-over 4 x ply long front edge and just a folder over once long rear edge. The old knackered seat is the thing above the new one.

Pretty it is not. I'm a novice sewing contraption user and it's only a cheap Chinese shoe-patcher manual sewing machine.

BUT, I think it will be just as strong as the original, if not stronger. I need the steel rods ASAP to move forwards really.
I shall however place it on the seat frame and pretend it is done. :)

How big were the buckets 🤔 .
But then we usually get about 2/3rd to 1/2 of bucket every year. Think the bucket is about the size of a 25l paint can, its a Karcher thing so the hoover does the work and it drops in the can.
But then we do burn 20+cubes a year.

Not huge bucket I suspect. He had vacuumed as much of it that came down the chimney directly into his catch can and what the physically shoveled out of the fire-box was like a black mountain of soot to the top 1/3rd of the box.

I have always tried to run the flue temp at 300c or thereabouts but we did go through 2 metres of rubbish wood as well as all the Ash & Oak. But, happy-days.

I suppose that if you try and recut the thread wiv a die it just goes round and round? Maybe you could clamp the tie-rod and ball joint to stop this?
I fink your way may be better, unless it starts to go round and round as you use the saw.

I fort you only burned propah dried hard wood? I suppose it goes up through another floor and the roof space?

I may now stare up ours, if I can. Might actooly be easier to get on the roof and peer down it!!

Part of what we have been doing is disposing of fruit trees that I took down a while back. We have been burning those and W likes to take all the twigs off for kindling and the next size up for the next stage before we put logs on. It works well and smells nice too.

My stars, that must cost! Or it would over here, absolute minimum being €50 per stere. Hope it heats your hot water too.

We have ours done every year, herself says it's a requirement in the house insewerants.
Might be worth checking yours?

I prefer the kiln-dried Ash or Oak, but last year I took a job-lot of 2xM3 "various" from some local lads and their start-up business and it was mainly pine. It all burnt though and no harm seems to have been done.
