I have started selling all my engineering stuff. It's quite upsetting but it's just rusting away not being used.
@DanClarke I sold one of the lathes finally so the garage is looking rather empty!

Some bits of motorbike injun arrived this morning so I spent a couple of hours fitting a new small end bush in a con rod. Perfect fit for the gudgeon pin before fitting but needs about half a thou reaming out after fitting. But my adjustable hand reaming tool is microscopically just too big to fit the handle. So I need to file a bit off the end of the tool so it will fit the handle. Easy enough - but my file is in my dottir's garage 30 miles away. I'll get it at the weekend. No hurry for this job, as the big end bolts have just departed Los Angeles airport ----

...that the header tanks in the attic now have an overflow arrangement that routes to outside.
...that I am filthy dirty from attic dust and insulation fibres.
...thatI think that is enough for today.

Which one? The Raglan Little John?
It must be hard to let such treasures go, but if they are unlikely to get used it is probably the best thing.
I have absolutely no room at the inn. I have to throw a trike out in the rain in order to do any work in my little space.
My next house must have a standalone workshop.

Luckily it is "rockwool" which allegedly has a longer lifespan. This went in in the mid 90's and has not "slumped" I am hoping (in the nicest possible way) that it will see me out.

I don't understand. Basic rate (20%) is all the way up to £50,270 of income and the next band is £50,217- £125,140 is 40%.
Where does the 30% come from?

My private pension is 200 a month and they are taking 60 quid a month in tax
Suppose it's not 30% of my gross income but it's 30% of the extra that I saved for all my life
