I replaced that seat mesh on my trike. :)
Seems OK. Time will tell. Is already nicer to sit on.
Will need tightening up after a while.

But thats major work and a (council property?) so yes it needs checking.

But if “joe public” runs a new socket he should get it checked unless he/she/other is competent. It’s the competent bit that has probably prompted the new rules;).

Its the death of the householder that electrocuted himself by feeding one room from two sources and only switchin one source off at the board.

Don't you have to have registered certificates now for rewiring. Especially if selling the property later on.
Provided you are competent (knowledge + experience) you can do your own work. There are some jobs you are not supposed to do yourself, and require a proper electrician, such as installing a complete new circuit from the consumer unit, working on the consumer unit, outdoor electrics. I recently did a load of work on my dottir's house - additions to the existing ring circuits, upgrading some circuits, removing redundant items etc. She had a spark in a couple of weeks ago to put in a new cooker supply from the consumer unit, fitted a new consumer unit and checked all circuits, and certified the lot.

That's the way to do it.

Is that you at Gretna for a special event?? 😵‍💫
Thought I'd share this with you all. Scan of a cartoon from my fav cartoonist (GILES) from my collection, and a photo I took in 2022 when there for my dottir's wedding. Her married name is Giles. With a bit of foresight I should have put my Landy in the right position ---- will do it next time I'm on the other side of the wall.

Inherited house not council property. Due to my mother declining physical ability. Manchester social services assessment for alterations to the house via grant scheme. With a percentage cost to the owner on financial ability. I think it was the council who hire outside contractors for property alterations.
The only snag I've got is the removal of the through floor lift and restoration of floor and ceiling. Not cheap when I got a quote for the task by the original fitters. Still filling my piggy Bank for future coverage.🥺

Its a bit of "how long is a bit of string"
We dont know how many sockets/what type, how extensive is the rewire. New fuse box new scokets+boxes, access (floorboards up?)
2 days work sounds like the house is pretty gutted.

I dont know the prices in the UK of elecy bits now, but think that sounds a little bit too much TBH.

Will it also give the required certs when finished.

36 sockets & switches, new fusebox & everything else that goes with it. House empty & all floor coverings have been removed.
Yes all certified but still sounds an mighty high price me is thinking he doesnt want the job so has priced it high. We will wait n
see as there are a couple more leccy peeps coming out to price it.
