Was at the dottir's today to fit a new light in her bathroom. Was going to be a temporary job using the ancient cables, a standard pendulum fitting and the old pull switch pending a bit of re-wiring. But when I got into the loft to inspect what was there, it was going to be easier to do a local rewire and fit the new light she has bought. Got it partially done and had to go to scroofix to get the stuff for the rewire, back in a day or two to finish the job. She and her hubby have been putting various lamps and new bulbs around their house, very up to date smart things which can be adjusted for ambience, colour, brightness etc using an app or a gadget. "To suit the mood". Dunno why peeps need this sort of thing, I remember the early 70's when we had loads of power cuts because the power station workers and miners took it in turns to go on strike - most nights back then were candle lit and no telly. Work wasn't any better. But I s'pose its progress -----

What tool is you using to make so much dust?

A grinder with skinny cutting discs, the fibreglass is between 5-15mm & the wood under is 1" marine ply
I was going to take a couple of pics but I couldnt wait to get out of it. Yup is a right mess

Me too. and for some reason seem to think it happened more than once, the first time was when I was at boarding school so before or including 1972, but that wasn't the planned 3 day week which happened the following year. Still had lots of blackouts though.

I was reading about that earlier. They had a one man pot hole machine here for a while ive not seen him for a while.
Wonder if he's still got the nice stainless shovel.

Not funny, you must be glad you don't have to do it every day.
Yup on my knees too, then you need to lever it up as its all screwed down into the bearers. I used to do this kind of work
every week. Tis much better when your putting it back together in a wee tent with the heaters on in the middle of winter.
Bloody knackered after that shift.
