Went to wix last nite. When yer run yer paw over the ply wood its gottid ripples innit. Mdf is smooth. Gorra sheet of 18mm ply oft and stood up. Bent like a narna. Not easy to straighten oot. Did same wiv 12 and 18mm mdf. 18 much straighter than 12. Fink yer can gettid the last bit of bend oot by securing it to a frame. Will go back when eye is ready to get one but it will be from a new pallet as the ones on top should be straighterer.
I've found wix plywood to be not bad quality. Never had a dodgy sheet delivered. They get a few bad reviews though. Luck of the draw ----

So I can come home from a weekend away and switch the heating on and be toasty even when it's minus 5 outside ?
No and yes. Yer can be warm but yer need to leave the heating on as it takes a much longerer time to heat a cold home wiv a HSP than burning somefink. HSP is more suited to be used as a keep topping up the heat, method of heating yer castle. Yer would leave it running instead of switching it oft.

Its slowerer to transfer heat so leaving it on overcomes that. Hence why more rads are often needed.

They work by soaking up heat from ootside and compressing a liquid which is used to transfer and release the heat. Bit like yer fridge. Yer can use rads or have air pumped in the house, to get heat. Considered 300% efficient as yer only powering the pump to convert pressure as oppised to burning somefink which will always be less than 100% efficient.

There are downsides. Old homes dunt have enuff insulation like new ones so they lose more heat. So yer haft to put in a biggerer heat pump. Sometimes more rads anorl. Heat pumps dunt have a lot of power so yer tend to leave the heating on to reduce temp rise and dalls that carch it oot. Yer cam more easily service HP systems compared to gas. Few peeps gave their own gas meter to detect poor gas burn.
What you're saying then, is the energy (heat) comes from electric, not so much the air/ground

Seen wix and bnq reviews where peeps talk of missing section and glue inside. Eye need it for me nooker table so mdf will be betterer assits smoother. Not seen the problems meself but eye ain't bort many big sheets. 8x4 table is the biggest eye can have. Just need to make a frame to support it on me 6x2.5 foot table. Somehow on rollers so it will slide to get more que room.

So instead of having my gas central heating on for 5 hours a day (use solar for the rest) in winter, I will have to have heat pump running 24/7 and I won't be able to regulate the heat room to room. I have rooms on different temps, turn heat up a bit in bedroom half an hour before bed etc etc
Chinese diesel heater will be needed on standby I think

Wont the balls move when you slide the table ?

Yer take the heat oot of air or the ground and put it into a sealed transfer system, using electric to pressurise sealed air in order to transfer said heat. Tis the same way a fridge or air con works. Only difference is yer want to circulate the heat round yer castle. Air con pressurises and lets go of pressure, to transfer heat, in a fixed system.

Its the pressurising of the sealed air that transfers the heat, into hotterer heat, thats hot enuff for you to feel warm, is the magic trick. Yer not generating the heat yerself like when yer burning somefink. HSP works by transfering heat. Yer only pay the cost of transfer. Hence why its considered so efficient when compared to burning gas.

Wear thermals and put on an extra jumper in cold weather. Turn the heating down. Its easier to keep warm than to get warm (old seafarer's saying). That's wot we had to do when I were a nipper, pre-central heating days. One open coal fire in the house, no rads, assuming none had nicked yer coal ------

Yer can still regulate heat at different levels in different rooms. Yer just need to leave the system running most of the time. Wiv solar power it will be cheaperer to run. HSP should be cheaper than burning gas. Some peeps dunt like it as they ain't insulated their castle which is a requirement as HSP is a less powerful method if creating heat. But that's where the efficiency is created. Also they want to switch it on/oft like a gas boiler. Yer can't do that. Instead yer leave it on to keep topping up.

Its much more efficient than the hydrogen equivalent alternative. Yer need a lot of lectric to create the hydrogen.

Yea but you still use lots of elastic to compress the air to make it hotter

Sounds to me like the pressurising generates the most heat
Cant understand how you can extract heat from frozen or wet soggy ground, if that were the case then the house would be warmed from heat rising from the ground
Is there enough heat in the ground to warm a block of flats and streets of terraced houses?
Tis trickery me thinks ;)
