That makes sense. Might have to purchase one in preparation for cutting the bloody thing next year.
Buy yourself a chain sharpening kit at the same time, and a spare chain.;)
You may not need it if that is all you are going to do and it depends on how hard the wood is and how many there are and if you intend to cut them up once you've got the hedge down.
I only use ours on hardwood as I use it to saw up logs for the fire, but I have also used it, on its side, to clear some self-seeded oak trees off a piece of land we don't use. So I need to sharpen it about every two tankfuls of fuel. It maybe that I am not the best sharpener in the world but it does me.;)

I might end up just borrowing one. I'm sure Stevie at work will have a couple knocking about. Farmers have all sorts of kit lying around. And it's not something I'd use regularly.

Anybody got a good homemade recipe for killing ants that you cannot find the nest for?
Wifey has ants in her poly tunnel and is despairing of the damage they are doing. We absolutely cannot find the nest ans she has sprinkled ant powder every where, that I can see, is likely.
We are going to make up a mix of water, oil washing up liquid and peppermint essence. But are open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Boiling water is all I can suggest but if you cannot find the nest .........................:)

Speaking of ripping out hedges, do any of you people that use a chainsaw regularly know if I can run one on its side for any length of time? I'm thinking there would be fuel feed issues.

The feed/suction for the fuel is usually on the end of a tube in the tank, so you may find it will run better/longer on 1 side.
You should be able to see where it is in the tank to keep fuel there.
