@My Old Landy .... I am having lots of fun making my "Tiltometer".
I have got the gyro working and giving me readings.
I also have a script that writes stuff to an SD card, so now I need to fold these 2 scripts together.
I also need to add a RTC so the readings are Date/Time stamped in the files.
I also want a few LED's lighting so that's more "fun" yet to come.
Quite an enjoyable little pastime.

Still not the foggiest what most of that was about.
"Tiltometer blah blah blah blah blah blah blah double blah" :D

I thought compression socks were a device/ruse to help "prevent" a clot forming.
But, if you already have a clot does it:
a) Help prevent other/further clots forming.
b) Help dispel clots you already have.
Answers on a postcard.
I dunno, which is why I asked the doc.
Might as well have asked a hole in the wall. and as I won't even be speaking to a doc, still don't know.
Like you, all the other peeps i know who wear them, which isn't that many, though Wifey had to wear them for a while, it was for the very reasons you said.
So maybe they want to stop me getting another one in either the other leg or in my left leg but lower down as, although the effects are to be seen and felt in the calf, the clot is actually in my thigh.
Maybe the nurse will know. Maybe he/she won't.
But I will be going on a long car journey.;)

My Mrs suffers from DVT's so wears them for prevention. Once you have them, they can reoccur without warning and you become prone to them (she says, not me as I don't have any!)
That was what bothered me, i.e. the recurring.
But all the blood tests etc that they have done and they have done a few, say that there was and is no reason for the clot.
Which is why they are now (sort of) of the opinion that it was down to the Astra-Zenica jab. They are confident another one will be very unlikely. But then they have to play it safe. and if I said "What about the pop socks then?" and they said "no, you'll be alright." and then I had one and it got serious, they'd be open to all the usual legal sh!te. Which is why I thin k they may well be going this way.

Is that like an alcoholic KFC?
Not really!
I'll phto the recipe and put it up if you like but it is in French, so, up to you.
Basically it is "Blanche the chicken bits lightly in butter, slosh a glass(wine) of whisky over them and leave them in the pan with a lid on, OFF the heat, for 10 mins, meanwhile quarter some mushrooms and sauté them very gently in another pan. Once they've absorbed a lot of the clarified butter, add a chopped shallot. cook till the shallot is soft, chuck in the pan with the chook and 50gms of thick cream, cook on a medium/low heat for up to half an hour or until the chook is cooked. Then take the chook and other bits out of the pan and put them on the serving dish, keep warm while you bring the juice left behind rapidly to the boil. then chuck in another 50gms of cream thickened with a teaspoonful of "fécule" (flour, we use cornflour). Tke straight off the heat, stir and pour over the rest. Serve with peas, green beans or whatever takes your fancy." We had peas tonight!
So more of a chicken in cream than a KFC!

Enjoy!
(Recipes came from one of the only decent wedding presents my ex and I got. Biggish plastic boxes with recipes on wipe clean cards about 4" square, pic one side recipe on tother. For absolutely everything, even how to make bread etc. She took em so i had to photocopy the recipes laboriously. Took me a whole afternoon, doing 4 at a time. but well worth it! Now fills a fat ring binder!)

Suns away to bed I had a relaxing afternoon after some lunch/dinner on the way home.
Took my Evo oot for a wee drive much quicker than my landys :D:D
Fell asheep outside on the patio cooch, had my troosers on this time so not burnt like the last time.:)
I used to burn easy as anything. Never thought i'd ever get a tan. Used to cover up when all my mates were stripping off. Then Wifey introduced me to Clinique. We went on our first summer holiday to a Greek island. For the first time in my life I could lie out all day in the sun and not burn. Couldn't believe it. :):):)
Now I tan easy as anything and only rarely have to use anything. Except on my bald bonce, for which I normally wear a hat as I sweat from there and not even Clinique can work under those circs. (It is waterproof and REALLY water proof. It takes ages to wash off and you only have to apply it once a day unless you rub it off by being too frictional with towels or sand.)
But I used to have red hair and freckles. So guess what, I burnt!:(:(:(
